We brought a toddler home from the mall

Don’t worry, it was OUR toddler. But when did we get a toddler??

We’d been saying for weeks (months?) that this baby desperately needed a hair cut. The one-snip trim I gave him back in March wasn’t holding up anymore. Just look at this picture from Saturday morning!

So we took a trip to the mall and stopped into Cartoon Cuts for Caelan’s first official haircut.

He was very good for most of the haircut and only started to squirm/cry near the very end. So when we left, we had this handsome guy (with a few leftover tears).

Then we stopped into the kids’ shoe store a few doors down and got him fitted for his first pair of real shoes. He’s been walking for 2 months now and his soft-soled shoes are taking a beating, so we figured it was time for some regular sneakers. Friends told me to go ahead and spend the money on Stride Rite shoes, so that’s what we did. I was shocked to learn that he was a size 4 1/2 extra wide. Just goes to show you how clueless I was about his shoe size, but it does explain why I had so much trouble trying to squish his feet into normal width shoes.

When we got home, we had this toddler. His new hair and shoes make him look so grown up!

Welcome to life with a wide-footed toddler. Stride Rite shoes are the best and its going to be the only way you can find wide shoes anyway :/ Get your check book ready b/c he’ll need a new pair in 3 months! PS – He is adorable!

Congrats, he does look more “toddler” You need to throw a visit to the carousel in there too!!

PS – Ella had wide feet too when she was younger, but grew out of them.

You’re right, our little baby has turned into a toddler! Where did the year go? Stride Rite shoes… the tradition continues. Be glad he didn’t have to wear those hard orthopedic shoes!
Caelan just keeps getting cuter and cuter!
